Preventing Periodontal Disease

Did you know there is a link between your body’s overall health and your oral health? Gum disease and health problems such as a stroke and other cardiovascular problems can be more closely related than one would expect.

There are some warning signs to watch for that may indicate that you having periodontal disease: gums that bleed easily while brushing, red or swollen gums, persistent bad breath, loose or separating teeth. The early stage of periodontal disease is called gingivitis, but it can be reversible with the proper cleaning and care.

Brushing twice a day and flossing along with regular dental checkups can prevent any periodontal disease. You should also choose a product that has the ADA seal of acceptance that meets the criteria for effectiveness.
