Oral Cancer

Ever wonder if you’ve had an oral cancer screening? Most likely you had one during your last dental exam. During your exam, dentists will look for any discolorations, irregularities, or movement limitations, which may be signs of oral cancer.

The National Cancer Institute program states that 30% or oral cancers are found in the tongue. Other oral cancers are found in the lip or floor of the mouth. Historically, 75% of oral, neck, and head cancers are related to tobacco and alcohol use.

Oral cancers can be detected at a curable stage and a thorough examination of the mouth can be done in only a few minutes. If you haven’t had a dental exam this year, make sure to schedule one soon!
